It was there that they decided to have a photo session the very next day, at Martha Graham's mother's farm, not far from Santa Barbara. The photographs were all taken outside in the mid day sun; she opened the barn doors wide, and photographed Martha in front of them, allowing the shadows to fall into black. This double exposure was taken in the camera -- taking two shots of Martha on the same sheet of film.
This print remains in excellent condition.Provenance
This print was printed by Imogen and gifted to the Imogen Cunningham Trust. It has been preserved in the archive since 1976.
This print comes with a hand letter-pressed Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Meg Partridge, the granddaughter of Imogen and the Director of the Imogen Cunningham Trust. Each print and Certificate carries a unique serial number to identify the print and links the print to the Certificate.
