Appraisals
The Imogen Cunningham Trust does not have an appraisor on-staff. While we do get requests of pricing for insurance purposes or estate valuation, we suggest that individuals find a certified apparisor. We suggest finding a photography specialist in the appraisor field, as this is a specialized area of interest with significant knowledge rewuired both in the photographic market as well as in the history of photographic processes and conservation.
Appraisals, done by a certified appraiser, is an assessment of the print in relation to other like or similar prints, with consideration of age, condition, and accompanyting paperwork, signature or other provenance. Knowledgeable apparisers in the photographic field can add value and efficiency to a print assessment that an appraiser in other specialty fields my not have easy access to, so we always recommentd reviewing the history, focus and specialties of an appraiser for your Cunningham prints.
